WHATEVER-WEATHER.COM IS EVOLVING
January 28, 2011
The website is a place where meteorologists can find jobs and share information.
Raleigh, NC January 28, 2011 After just over a year online, the Whatever-Weather.com has changed its look a little, but stayed true to the company’s original goals. Those goals include helping meteorologists and their employers find each other and giving them a place to share information and educate the portion of the public interested in the field.
The job board is one of the only free online boards specifically for meteorologists and climatologists. No membership or subscription is necessary to use the board. Company president Nicolle Morock states “The whole idea is to make searching for a job easy for meteorologists, especially the recent graduates who can’t necessarily afford a subscription to a job search site.” For employers who are looking to hire meteorologists, the board is self-service and easy to use. Job postings are automatically sent to the twitter feed and will also be promoted on the company’s two facebook pages.
Whatever-Weather.com has added two new features in the past few months as well. The new video feature “What’s your weather job?” is meant to help those people who are thinking about a career in meteorology see just how many opportunities there are in the field. Morock adds “it’s a good chance for mets who have been on the same career path for a long time to see what other job options are out there, too.” Each edition is an interview with a meteorologist about his/her job and his/her predictions for the future of that career path. The interviews are available on the website and on Whatever-Weather’s youtube channel.
The forum, Network, has a new feature as well. Under the “Forecasts” tab, users can find regional forecasts and discussions created by a team of meteorologists across the country. More regions will be added as more meteorologists volunteer to forecast for their home states. The feature not only provides forecasts for the general public, but also gives the forecasters a chance to show off their skills and expand their professional networks.
