WHATEVER-WEATHER.COM IS EVOLVING

The website is a place where meteorologists can find jobs and share information.

Raleigh, NC January 28, 2011 After just over a year online, the Whatever-Weather.com has changed its look a little, but stayed true to the company’s original goals.  Those goals include helping meteorologists and their employers find each other and giving them a place to share information and educate the portion of the public interested in the field.

The job board is one of the only free online boards specifically for meteorologists and climatologists.  No membership or subscription is necessary to use the board.  Company president Nicolle Morock states “The whole idea is to make searching for a job easy for meteorologists, especially the recent graduates who can’t necessarily afford a subscription to a job search site.”  For employers who are looking to hire meteorologists, the board is self-service and easy to use.  Job postings are automatically sent to the twitter feed and will also be promoted on the company’s two facebook pages.

Whatever-Weather.com has added two new features in the past few months as well.  The new video feature “What’s your weather job?” is meant to help those people who are thinking about a career in meteorology see just how many opportunities there are in the field.  Morock adds “it’s a good chance for mets who have been on the same career path for a long time to see what other job options are out there, too.”  Each edition is an interview with a meteorologist about his/her job and his/her predictions for the future of that career path.  The interviews are available on the website and on Whatever-Weather’s youtube channel.

The forum, Network, has a new feature as well.  Under the “Forecasts” tab, users can find regional forecasts and discussions created by a team of meteorologists across the country.  More regions will be added as more meteorologists volunteer to forecast for their home states.  The feature not only provides forecasts for the general public, but also gives the forecasters a chance to show off their skills and expand their professional networks.

Visit Whatever-Weather.com for more information and to see how these changes have improved the website.

A New Addition to Our Network

January 24, 2011

I hope all of you are having a great New Year!  2011 is starting out strong here at Whatever-Weather.  Many of you have probably noticed by now that we’ve added a new feature to our forum in the past week.  Under the “Network” tab, you’ll find the topic “Forecasts.”  Peruse that section and you’ll see that we have a group of meteorologists providing forecasts for various regions around the country.

First we’d like to thank Richard, David, Kristin, Tony, Jeremy, and Carrie & Paul for happily stepping up to be our first ever forecasters.  Each of them will be providing insights and opportunities for discussion as the weather in their respective regions warrants.  Feel free to join the Network and participate by asking questions, giving opinions, and even reporting conditions in your area.

Second, I’d like to invite more forecasters to join our Network.  If you would like to forecast for a region that has not yet been claimed, please contact us.  While any meteorologist can be a forecaster, there are some ground rules to follow, and we’d like to make sure that there are not too many people trying to forecast for the same region.  Each area will have one main forecaster, but again, feel free to add to the discussion if the region you’re interested in has been taken.

Third, we’d like to remind everyone that our forum is free to use just like our job board.  In an effort to reduce the number of spammers that we have seen in the last week, we now require that users be authorized by the administrator.  That process should not take long, and we will not sell your email or any other information that you provide to us to anyone.  Please don’t let this extra step for the security of all keep you from participating.

As always, thanks to everyone for your continued support and please keep spreading the word about us.  Don’t forget to check out the new postings on our job board, too!
